Being rescued from the sunny streets of Mexico and moving to the lush, green forests of British Columbia is quite the massive transition for a pup. Yogi is a 1.5-year-old pup who is currently settling into his new life with his very happy DINK parents. The owners behind the @mr.yogurtman handle recently posted a heartwarming video of their morning hike. Their sweet rescue dog sits calmly on a massive rock, appearing to absorb every single sight and sound around him. You may have heard of forest bathing, but in this video, we see this rescue dog experience it firsthand.
Rescue dog sits atop a huge rock and adjusts to new smells and sounds
Yogi is wearing his red coat and bright orange harness, sitting steady as if he’s decided this rock is the best seat in the house (spoiler: it is.) He looks around slowly, ears shifting back and forth. Even his nose twitches as he samples every new smell drifting through the air. You can almost see him processing things in real time — the sound of the stream, the rustle of leaves, maybe a bird he hasn’t met yet.
At one point, he pulls an ear back, like he’s trying to tune into something specific. Then he wiggles his nose and turns his body slightly, scanning the trees behind him. The on-screen text says, “Nothing better than watching him take in all the new sounds and smell,” and you really can’t argue with that. Dogs experience the world nose-first, and this video feels like watching curiosity happen in slow motion.
Yogi was adopted last year. And has since spent his first Christmas and New Year in his forever home with his DINK parents. He’s also been learning new tricks, testing out new foods, and figuring out what life looks like when it’s safe and predictable. All of which is documented on his feed.
Viewers couldn’t get enough of the visual. One person said he looks like Paddington Bear — something his owner happily agreed with. Meanwhile, another commented, “Sniffing and smelling is the best way they learn the world!” One person admitted that this video of the rescue dog led to an instant follow. Yogi doesn’t do much in the clip. And somehow, that’s exactly why it works.
