Video: Dog Chases His Peanut Butter Dream & It’s Exactly What You Think

Everyone talks about chasing their dreams, and Crouton’s goals are refreshingly simple. All he wants in life, at least in this moment, is a jar of peanut butter. Over on @kasey_the_english_lab, his humans shared a video that shows just how serious Crouton is about snack time.

Crouton is a Black Labrador, which explains a lot — especially the way he can sense food from approximately three yards away. The video opens with Crouton backing up through the grass, like he’s prepping for something important. You can practically see the gears turning as he gets himself ready to launch. His “dream” is a jar of peanut butter dangling just out of reach.

The chase itself is pure gold. Crouton’s dad holds the jar and his phone while trying to outpace the pup across the yard. But once the dog spots the peanut butter in the video, nothing else seems to exist.

At one point in the clip, he even manages to latch his mouth onto the neck while they are both moving. Even though his dad keeps moving back fast, the pup never breaks his stride. At this point, it’s obvious he’s not stopping until that jar is his.

This focused energy is a bit different from his usual online persona. You might recognize him as the calm “coworker” from a previous viral hit. In that video, the sweet dog sat perfectly still during his dad’s remote work calls. However, when the kitchen staples come outside, that office etiquette goes right out the window.

The internet is clearly enjoying the change of pace. The post pulled in over 1,300 likes in the first twenty-four hours alone. Commenters are calling him “awesome sauce” and praising his smarts. It’s hard not to root for a guy who knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to run for it.

If you were worried about him missing out, his owner has good news. He confirmed that Crouton got the full jar to himself right after the camera stopped. At least for the Labrador, the strategy seems solid: run hard, stay focused, and get the jar.
