Dad Helps Golden Retriever ‘Make Her Favorite Spot Better’

If you have ever worked from home with a pet, you know that your “personal space” is now a shared space. Instagram user @goldengirlpacha shared one such story in an adorable video, featuring a Golden Retriever named Pacha, who makes it clear that her favorite place in the house is wherever her dad is. Specifically, that place happens to be right under his desk while he works.

Dad builds a Golden Retriever her ‘custom bench’ in video

The adorable video walks through the Golden Retriever’s whole “daddy’s girl” era, starting from puppyhood, where she is tiny enough to tuck easily beside his feet. But that doesn’t last very long. As the months go on, she grows bigger, but the desk nook doesn’t grow with her — and yet, Pacha squeezes in and stays put — even when it looks uncomfortable.

The on-screen text explains the whole story: “Since her very first day home, we noticed Pacha has always been obsessed with being right next to dad’s side…even as she got bigger and the spot under his desk got more awkward.” It further noted, “She would lay there uncomfortably just so she could be next to dad.”

So her dad took matters into his own hands: during his holiday break, he measured, sketched, and built Pacha a custom bench designed to fit perfectly beside his desk. And yes — Pacha was right by his side throughout the whole project.

By the end, the upgrade looks like a mini dog daybed with a sturdy wooden frame and a bright cushion. Pacha’s dad kept it close to his desk so that Pacha could stay glued to her favorite human, but comfortably this time, and ask for scratches whenever she needed them. The caption under the video joked, “The bond between Pacha and her dad needs to be studied,” and that’s about right.

The Golden Retriever’s behavior in the video checks out, because Goldens often form strong “shadow effect” habits, sticking close to feel safe, familiar, and rewarded — especially when that spot comes with steady company and free belly scratches.
