Video: Husky Is Named ‘Miss Grumbles’ for a Reason

Most pet parents know that the mere mention of the vet or a bottle of pills is enough to make a dog disappear under the bed for three days. However, Leia, the agouti “Wolf Princess” from @siberianderpskies, has another way of dealing with it.

In a recent video, the Husky’s dad explains that she has surgery scheduled for the next morning, meaning it’s time for a pre-op routine of pain meds and Trazodone. This specific Husky is famous for being a bit of a drama queen, but the way she handles her medical prep is actually pretty mind-blowing.

Husky doesn’t like to take her pills but then owner does this

The scene starts out on the patio where Leia is sitting on the couch. When her dad tries to give her some early morning affection, she lives up to her “Miss Grumbles” nickname immediately. She’s got a bone nearby and is feeling a little “sharky,” snapping at his hand and grumbling under her breath just to let him know she isn’t in the mood for unearned pets.

The vibe changes the second the medication actually comes out. Her dad sets up a tripod to film this part, and suddenly, the grumbling stops. Despite her earlier protest over a simple head scratch, Leia sits perfectly still when she realizes it’s time for her medicine. She doesn’t need a “pill pocket” or a glob of peanut butter to hide the taste.

She just opens up her mouth and lets her dad place the pills at the back of her throat. Then she swallows them like a total pro. There’s even a funny second where one pill gets tucked into her cheek. But she remains patient while her dad fishes it out to make sure she’s all set for her surgery.

Her dad points out that she’s only difficult when she knows it isn’t important, but when the stakes are high, her intelligence really comes through. To celebrate her being such a “pill master,” she gets a mountain of kisses and a cookie. Not to be left out, her brother Archer — the International Pup of Mystery — scores a “weenie” treat just for being a good spectator. The video has over 25,000 likes, and has left other pet owners in total awe, especially those who usually have to go through a “death match” just to get their pets to take a single tablet.
