Video: Dog ‘Fights His Demons’ While Stealing Treat From Owner

Buzz, Columbus’s resident golden boy, is going through something dire right now — at least by dog standards. In a hilarious video from @thegoldenboybuzz, we see a living room moral dilemma with the stakes: a single, delicious snack. While one human films from the couch, another is pretending to be fast asleep while dangling a treat from their hand.

The Golden Retriever creeps closer in slow motion, the kind of movement that makes it obvious he knows exactly what he’s doing — and feels bad about it. It is a masterclass in internal conflict, like he’s genuinely weighing whether this treat is worth the consequences.

Buzz enters the frame like he’s on a covert mission. Slow steps. Careful pacing. He gets close enough to sniff the goods, but his conscience suddenly kicks in. Then Buzz glances at his human’s face, notices the closed eyes, and suddenly decides backing away is the safer, more moral option.

He even retreats all the way to the center table just to put some distance between himself and the temptation. But that doesn’t last for too long — and eventually circles back to see if it’s still there.

Instead of just grabbing the snack, he takes several steps back and starts spinning in circles, trying to catch his own tail. One viewer joked that the “bad boy voices” were actually coming from his tail, acting like a little goblin on his shoulder. It honestly looks like he’s punishing himself for even thinking about taking the dog biscuit without permission.

Eventually, he gives up on the heist and gently plops down on the floor a few feet away. He seems to be banking on the idea that if the human drops the snack in their sleep, it becomes fair game. Judging by the 38,000-plus likes, many people saw themselves in that moment. His owner even gave him an “A+ for self control” for not folding under pressure. Truly impressive.
