You Have to See This Golden Retriever Carrying Her ‘Christmas Tree’ Home

You know how some dogs get oddly invested in whatever their humans are doing for the holidays? Lucuma is totally that dog. In the Instagram Reel shared by @lucuma_theretriever, she trots down a city sidewalk with the confidence of a dog who has already made up her mind.

In the video, the Golden Retriever is wearing her harness, sporting that proud little half-smile, and clamped between her teeth is her version of a Christmas tree. The onscreen text reads, “POV: When you ignore your parents and bring home your Christmas tree anyway,” and honestly, that’s exactly the energy she gives off.

Over 28K likes in, it’s obvious people love a dog who takes festive errands into her own paws. The moment she glances at the camera, you can see it — she knows she’s being funny. However, this isn’t some tiny walk-by find. It’s a long, leafless branch that looks like it’s been through a few Miami storms. Lucuma, however, carries it with that springy, cheerful gait Goldens are known for.

The caption from her point of view sets the tone perfectly: “I’m not allowed to bring one tiny stick into the house… but Mom drags in a WHOLE TREE and suddenly it’s ‘festive.’ So guess what? I’m bringing home my own Christmas tree this year!”

And Lucuma plays her part beautifully, daring anyone to question her “tree.” Honestly, it tracks. Miami’s Dog of the Year isn’t just celebrating Christmas. She’s out here styling it. Even without any leaves, a twig is still a tree if you believe hard enough, and Lucuma clearly does.

Everyone has their own holiday traditions, and Lucuma’s is making sure the house is decorated. Even if it means dragging home a branch that technically should’ve stayed on the sidewalk.

Comments roll in, calling her “the happiest pup ever,” praising her choice, and insisting she picked “the best tree.” Truthfully, she could come back with a stick barely bigger than a chopstick, and somehow we’d all still go, “Yep, that’s the holiday spirit.”
