Video: Dog’s Reaction When Newborn Baby Comes Home Is Everything

A German Shepherd can be the most loving big brother. Instagram user @dayanaplantin_a shared a touching video proving just that, showing how a dog warms up to a newborn baby. It does not take much, but just a gentle nudge, and meeting the newest member of the household becomes a precious moment that is now melting hearts across Instagram.

Dog won’t leave newborn baby’s side in adorable video

In the video, Kodita, the titular dog, meets the newborn baby for the very first time. The little one rests peacefully in his stroller while the parents gently encourage their German Shepherd to come closer.

A cautious and curious Kodita first fidgets a little. However, with calm reassurance and gentle head rubs, the owners guide him closer, repeatedly asking him to “stay” and reminding him, “That’s your brother.”

The parents tell him, “You gotta protect him,” adding, “You’re both my sons.” They also gently remind him, “He’s not a toy, papi.”

Meanwhile, the heartfelt message in the video’s caption celebrated Kodita’s birthday, thanking him for “all the love and for always supporting mom through the good and the bad.” The caption added, “Your love and company have always lifted me up. I love you.”

The response from viewers to the dog’s interaction with the newborn baby in the video was overwhelmingly warm. One commenter praised the family’s approach, writing, “This is such a great example of how to introduce a GSD to a baby. Great job.”

Another added, “Dog: ‘I will protect the tiny human at all costs.’” Others shared their admiration for both the dog’s gentleness and the owners’ care, with one writing, “Oh this is so sweet … You let him close right away … never push a dog away that’s when they get jealous.”

If there’s anything the dog’s reaction to the newborn baby proves in the video, it is that Kodita has taken on his new role as big brother with pride.
