Video: Dachshunds Celebrate Baby’s First Birthday With Balloons

Some mornings just start on a note so sweet, you almost get a toothache. In a video shared by @wilbur_minidox, two very proud long-haired mini Dachshund siblings, Wilbur and Palmer, are on official birthday duty for their baby sister. Each has two pastel balloons tied around their waist — pink and yellow.

They carry the look of dogs who take their job very seriously. The text on screen reads, “Waking our daughter up the morning of her 1st birthday with her very first best friends,” and that’s exactly what’s happening. Two tiny guardians help their human sibling start her big day in style.

Dogs and babies together should count as some sort of therapy. And this viral clip pretty much confirms it. It starts upstairs, where Wilbur and Palmer sit patiently as their dad attaches the ribbons to the balloons. They sit there like tiny, balloon-wearing guardians, while their mom walks down the hall, cake in hand.

Then comes the best part — the parade into the nursery. The baby’s already standing in her crib, hands waving, as her furry siblings trot in behind their mom, tails wagging and balloons bobbing. The text on screen reminds us: “They were the first ones to greet her when she came home,” and now, they are the first ones to greet her on her birthday morning.

The dog mom leans down, telling her daughter, “Happy Birthday,” before turning to the pups with a soft, “Happy Birthday, sister.” One of them even hops up to peek at the cake, just to make sure it passes quality control.

The onscreen text explains they’ve “watched over her and taken care of her,” and honestly, it shows. The kisses, the paw taps, and the easy comfort between them are evident. The video then cuts to the baby playing with the balloons attached to the Dachshunds.

By the end, the room’s full of love. As one viewer commented, “Wilbur and Palmer are just so sweet to their baby sister.” Another added, “OMGGGG can they come greet me on my birthday?” If that’s how year one begins, this baby’s set the bar way too high for the rest of us.
