In a now-viral video shared on his Instagram handle, @introducing_hati, this gentle giant can be seen hanging out by his grandpa’s koi pond, surrounded by colorful fish that seem just as fascinated by him. As the caption humorously puts it, “Who’d have thought his best friends would have turned out to be slimey?”

No wonder this video has racked up over 106k likes; it’s as soothing as it is adorable. It opens with Hati sitting calmly by the pond, eyes fixed on the koi gliding through the water. When he leans closer, you half-expect a splash, but instead, the fish swim toward him, almost as if they recognize him. In one sweet shot, Hati dips his paws in and lowers his nose gently, and one of the koi, a bright orange one named Cheeto, swims right up to greet him with what looks like a kiss.
This isn’t even their first meeting. In an earlier video shared by his mom, we learn that this koi pond belongs to Hati’s grandpa, and every time he visits, he makes a beeline for his fishy friends. The koi seem to remember him, too, swimming right up to the surface to say hello.
