Video: Golden Retriever Gets Caught After Stealing a Cucumber But Won’t Make Eye Contact

Ever catch your dog in the middle of something that leaves you in stitches? Arlo, the Golden Retriever, and his mom, Lauren, found themselves in a similar situation in this TikTok. When the video opens, we see him hiding under a table with a cucumber in his mouth. He’s clearly caught in the act, yet somehow trying to act completely innocent. The caption, “Someone stole a cucumber from the garden, not sure who though,” perfectly sets the stage for this little act of canine cunning.

Golden Retriever tries his best not to get caught after initially getting caught

With a thief this cute, who could stay mad? The video has over 78,000 likes and counting. Arlo sits under the table, cucumber firmly in mouth, but his body language screams, “I’m innocent!” He refuses to look straight at his mom. He tries to sneak quick peeks from the side of his eye instead. The slightest movement from her makes him scoot back several paces. It’s as if he’s trying to warn her of any false allegations. With every head tilt and eye movement, Arlo manages to look guilty and downright goofy at the same time.

At one point, he finally looks head-on at his mom, as if to say, “Yes, okay… I took the cucumber, but what’s the big deal?” His sneaky maneuvers, frozen stares, and subtle shifts make it hilarious. He looks like he’s plotting, trying to figure out how to stay out of trouble. The trouble he is very much in!

Almost everyone in the comments was on Arlo’s side. One wrote, “Maybe if I don’t look, she won’t see me,” while another joked, “Why do Goldens think they are literally invisible?” Others chimed in, “Some mysteries aren’t meant to be solved,” and “He picked up something on the ground. Not stealing — I’m on his side!” It’s safe to say that Arlo’s mix of mischief and charm stole more than just the cucumber; he stole everyone’s hearts, too.
