Video: Owner Lures ‘Newborn’ Puppy With a Teddy Bear Just To Get Him To Sleep

Every puppy has sweet, rebellious moments, and one of them could be their refusal to sleep. Instagram user @baker_the_englishcream shared a video of one such puppy who refuses to settle down for a nap. Baker, an English Cream Golden Retriever puppy, is lured with a teddy bear in the video, but does that convince him to go to bed? No. Instead, the puppy sits in the doorway, staring blankly at his owner.

Owner reveals methods to lure puppy after he refuses to sleep in video

The Instagram video captures the puppy refusing to sleep even after his owner lures him with a teddy bear. The on-screen caption captures the scene: “When your puppy refuses to sleep so you have to force him to take naps like a newborn.” However, no tricks seem to work on the stubborn Golden boy. Despite having “actual bags under his eyes from refusing to sleep,” Baker is certain that he simply wouldn’t rest.

In the video, the owner places a teddy bear in Baker’s line of sight. She even nudges it closer, hoping he will follow it into the room to rest. However, the puppy does not budge. The clip shows Baker simply stating from afar, determined to resist sleep. “We tried lullabies, luring him into his kennel with his favorite toy polar bear, everything,” says the post’s caption. The caption adds, “As a puppy baker refused to nap and would get so tired he would throw tantrums like an actual toddler.”

“He started getting too smart and would stop walking into this room because he knew we would make him sleep,” the caption concludes. Viewers related to the video, sharing their own strategies for stubborn pets. One offered a tried-and-tested trick, “Our puppy used to get over-tired and go full goblin mode! We would just get in the car with him in my lap (he was tiny then!). Within a block he’d be asleep, every single time.” Another user summed up the video, writing, “Puppies literally are toddlers.”

Despite the teddy bear strategy, the puppy‘s immovable stance is the heart of the video, proving that puppies are like toddlers after all.
