Shih Tzu won’t drink water until owner shakes bowl in video
In the hilarious video, which has gained over 38.9K likes, the Shih Tzu sits patiently before two bowls. One bowl contains her food, and another contains water. However, Hazel stubbornly refuses to drink water from the second bowl and relentlessly stares at the paw parent instead. The dog fixes her gaze on her owner and demands that her water be served right.
Hazel’s bemused owner narrates the standoff. She asserts, “Hazel, I just gave you fresh water,” adding, “And I put two ice cubes in it for you.” However, the Shih Tzu does not budge and keeps staring at the paw parent, prompting the question, “What’s wrong with it now?” The owner is clear: “Hazel, I’m not giving you more water. I just gave you a full, fresh bowl.” Despite her owner’s repeated attempts to break the Shih Tzu’s gaze, Hazel does not approve.
The pet mom then says, “Alright, just sit there. I’m not acknowledging you. No, I’m not giving you more water. I can see it from here with the ice cubes in it.” The owner then reminds Hazel, “I just did it for you literally one second ago, and you drank from it.” Even so, the Shih Tzu sits quietly and does not break the gaze.
This is when the owner gives up, asking, “You want me to shake it for you?” and gives the bowl a gentle shake. Instantly, Hazel approves of the gesture and laps up her water without complaining. The video’s caption sums up the experience: “Shaken not stirred.” Hazel and her antics in the video are both hilarious and endearing, reminding viewers of the universal nature of a Shih Tzu’s spirited personality. One viewer commented, “The shihtzu stand off. We never win,” while others expressed their interest in knowing “the outcome.”
