Video: Owner Shares What Made ‘Overly Emotional’ Golden Retriever Sad

If you’ve ever suspected your dog holds a quiet grudge against you for turning off the fun or forgetting their post-walk treat, you’re not alone. Some pups are simply wired to take life’s minor inconveniences very personally. A video shared by a Golden Retriever mom has gone viral for documenting the week’s biggest “offenses,” at least according to her dog’s very high emotional standards.

Owner shares incidents that disappointed Golden Retriever in viral video

In the video, a Golden Retriever dog’s mom recounts three events that apparently left the “overly emotional” pup deeply disappointed this week. The first “incident” involved a trip to the beach. Although Wally and his owner live just a quarter mile from the shoreline and visit regularly, it didn’t soften the blow of having to leave. His mom jokes that Wally reacted as if she had “personally ended summer,” while showing footage of the pup dramatically turning his back on her and refusing to make eye contact.

The second moment of disappointment came with the ring of the doorbell. Like many dogs, Wally has learned that the sound of a delivery truck often means something exciting is about to arrive. However, he looked visibly let down when he discovered the latest package was just a water filter. His owner notes that Wally had clearly assumed the delivery was meant for him and couldn’t quite hide his sadness when it wasn’t.

Finally, Wally faced what might’ve been the week’s biggest heartbreak when his dad left for work. His mom jokes that she’s the “second choice human,” and unfortunately, Wally had to spend the day with her instead of his preferred parent. She says that they even asked his dad’s boss if “my dog looks too sad” counts as a family emergency, but apparently, it does not. “Wally,” she adds, is “still processing that betrayal.”

Viewers in the comments section were quick to side with the heartbroken pup. “I mean how dare all the hoomans disappoint sweet Wally,” one wrote. Another joked, “You’re clearly the problem here.” Others called for Wally’s dad to bring him to work, while many simply related to the beach sadness. “Oh Wally, I too get sad when I have to leave the beach,” one user said.
