There’s always that one person who can fall asleep anywhere, no matter the noise. Leaf blower outside? Napping. Kids screaming next to your head? Still sleeping. For Cole, a therapy dog with a calm soul and no working eardrums, even the chaos of a classroom rave doesn’t stand a chance. His latest nap session, caught on video, is the kind of energy we all aspire to have on a Monday morning.
Deaf dog sleeps through ‘tiny human raves’ in viral video
Cole, a deaf Pit Bull and therapy dog from New Jersey, has returned to Instagram with another moment of pure, sleepy bliss. In the latest video shared by his owner on the account @colethedeafdog, Cole is sprawled out on a beanbag in the middle of a lively classroom party, completely unfazed by the music, singing, and dancing going on around him. Despite the volume and energy of the scene, Cole remains fast asleep, belly up and completely at ease.
The onscreen text jokingly refers to the party as a “tiny human rave,” and that’s exactly what it looks like. Yet, even 40 minutes into the celebrations, Cole hadn’t budged. His sleeping position and deep trust in his environment speak volumes about how safe and comfortable he feels.
It is a familiar sight for Cole’s fans. He went viral previously for sleeping through an elementary school music class in similar fashion. His relaxed posture — paws in the air, mouth slightly open — has become something of a signature.
But there’s more to him than just a good snooze. Born deaf and passed over by adopters, Cole was eventually rescued by Christopher Hannah, a public school music teacher in Vineland, New Jersey. Today, the two are a team at Dr. William Mennies School, where Cole helps teach students the power of empathy and the value of embracing differences.
