Video Shows Why ‘Solar’ Dog’s Behavior Changes Completely During Winter

Many pet parents know that, like humans, dogs can have moods that shift with the weather. Some pups thrive in the cold, bounding through snow with endless energy, while others would rather curl up under a blanket until spring. A TikTok video of a dog’s summer comeback after the “longest winter” is so relatable, it might just be the most human thing you’ll see all day.

TikTok shows how a dog behaves differently during summer and winter

The video, features a Staffy named Joey who lives with two Spaniels, Stan and Norris. According to the on-screen text, Joey endured the “longest winter,” and the footage makes that obvious. The clip shows him trudging through muddy fields with a look of pure disappointment. Whether it’s cold rain or snow, Joey appears completely unimpressed. In fact, during a downpour, he is seen standing under a tree, trying his best to avoid getting wet. Meanwhile, his Spaniel siblings gleefully dive headfirst into the mud, rolling and splashing without a care in the world. Joey looks on, almost disapprovingly, as they play, as if mentally distancing himself from their antics.

However, everything changes when summer arrives. In the second half of the video, Joey becomes a completely different dog. He dashes around the field with unstoppable energy, getting the zoomies and enjoying every second of sunshine. His joy is contagious as he playfully teases the Spaniels, finally getting his moment to be the energetic one. The video wraps up with the text, “I think it is safe to say the solar dog is recharged and back to functioning as normal.”

Joey’s dramatic shift from winter blues to summer joy struck a chord with viewers, many of whom saw a bit of themselves in the “solar-powered” pup. One person joked, “So this is what all of us with seasonal depression look like when the sun comes out.” Another quipped, “The definition of ‘I’ll come but I won’t be happy about it’ hahahah.” The relatable humor kept pouring in, with someone sharing, “My Staffy also hates winter and refuses to go outside if it even looks like it might rain.” Another nailed it with, “And that my friend is ‘a fair weather doggo.’”
