If you have ever taken your dog to the groomer, you know it’s rarely as simple as a bath and a trim. Between the blow-drying, nail clipping, and the sometimes chaotic crate pickup, there’s plenty of room for surprises. One dog owner got more than she bargained for when her Golden Retriever’s unique sense of “where I belong” turned an ordinary grooming session into a hilarious video worth a million views.
Owner shares what her dog did at the groomers in funny viral video
Instagram user @adriaandoatmeal, also known as Adria Barich, recently shared a video recounting a hilarious moment involving her Golden Retriever named Oatmeal. According to Adria, the day seemed to be going normally when she dropped off Oatmeal at the groomer. Once his session was complete, the staff called to say she could pick him up but added there was something she needed to know.
Naturally, her first reaction was concern, assuming Oatmeal might have caused trouble. However, what actually happened left her in stitches. After his grooming, the staff tried to place Oatmeal into one of the large dog crates on the floor. Instead, he ignored those and climbed onto the small crates stacked above — meant for tiny dogs — and wedged himself into one.
When Adria arrived, they kept him there so she could see the absurd scene for herself. She described the moment saying he looked completely ridiculous with his big head sticking out of the undersized crate, but surprisingly, he seemed completely relaxed.
In her video, Adria jokingly blames herself for the behavior, saying she may have caused some identity confusion. She admitted to constantly teasing Oatmeal for having what she calls “tiny baby cat paws.” She even joked that she might have gaslit him into thinking he’s actually a small dog. “And that’s the best explanation I’ve got,” she concluded, laughing.
Fans flocked to the comments to share their curiosity and amusement. Many users begged Adria to post a picture of Oatmeal squeezed into the tiny crate, showing how eager people were to see the comical scene for themselves. Another commenter humorously blamed the owner for the dog’s behavior, referencing Freud’s idea that parents are often responsible for their children’s quirks.
