Video Shows Difference Between Extrovert & Introvert Dog

Just like people, canines have personalities that range from outgoing and playful to quiet and reserved. While some pups are all about chasing tennis balls and greeting strangers, others prefer to keep their distance and watch the chaos from the sidelines. A recent viral video hilariously captures this contrast between an extrovert and an introvert dog — both from the same household.

Owner captures Corgi and Golden Retriever’s opposite behavior in Instagram video

Disclaimer: The following video contains strong language.

Shared by Instagram user @maui_thegoldenpup and @ruby_thecorgi, the video shows a Golden Retriever named Maui and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ruby displaying completely opposite vibes during a trip to the dog park.

Maui is full of energy, wagging his tail and mingling with other dogs, the kind of pet that instantly becomes the life of the party. Ruby, on the other hand, stands off to the side, barking as if to say, “Keep your distance.” Her body language clearly reads ‘introvert on duty.’

What makes the video funnier is the perfectly chosen audio clip from the 2023 comedy “Strays.” As Maui frolics, the voice of Reggie — one of the film’s lead dogs — enthusiastically proclaims, “Today is gonna be the best day ever… I love sunshine, I love butterflies. But more than anything, I love Doug.” Then, right as the camera cuts to Ruby, another voice shouts, “Hey! Shut the f**k up! F***ing piece of sh*t!” The comedic timing, paired with each dog’s behavior, hits just right.

The video has quickly gone viral on Instagram, pulling in over 3.5 million views and 228K likes, and for good reason. One person wrote, “Awwwww they complete each other,” like they’re the canine yin and yang. Another chimed in, “Ruby is the fun-police. I think that’s not uncommon with the corgis.” Perhaps the most accurate take was a comment that reads, “The audio is so perfect for Ruby and Maui omg.” Indeed, it is the kind of content that makes you wonder if our pets secretly script their own sitcoms when we are not looking.
