Big Dog Mothers Emu Chick in Heartwarming Video

Tough on the outside but a complete softie on the inside; that is exactly how this heartwarming video showed a big dog mothering an emu chick ever since their first encounter. The two seemed inseparable as the German Shepherd guided the little flightless bird through the lawn, playing fetch and sharing occasional cuddles and kisses.

It looked like a win-win for both as the canine found a little friend and an opportunity to parent the tiny chick, who met a protector in return. More importantly, this unusual bond broke stereotypes concerning bigger dogs and flaunted a different side of motherhood.

German Shepherd raises Emu chick in viral Instagram video

We are sure youve never quite seen a dog such as the big German Shepherd in this viral video, nurturing and caring for a tiny bird so tenderly. In the post, the owner first explained how she believed their “emu chick imprinted on our dog,” as the snippets showed the canine standing on two limbs and planting kisses on the baby bird. The following moments showed the unusual pair walking around the lawn, giving each other some much-needed company.

The post proceeded to show more wholesome moments between the canine and the chick as they strolled through their picturesque farm home. One clip even captured the dog playing fetch and the little bird joining her on the adventure, and then following her around. They also seemingly shared a treat, one raw egg, moments after some adorable clips showed the German Shepherd planting kisses on the lil baby, who continued following her around the farm.

Viewers, captivated by the dog and the emu chick’s sweetness, pointed out delightful highlights from the video. One commenter noticed the “way the shepherd looks back to make sure he doesn’t get too far ahead of him is so sweet,” while another understood the “Twilight reference. “I just know your camera roll is full,” stated another user before adding that they “wouldn’t be able to stop myself from recording 24/7.”

The post also correctly broke several stereotypes surrounding big dogs, proving they can be loving and tender too.
