Video of Dog Mimicking Owner’s Cry Is Too Adorable To Exist

Dogs don’t just sense emotions, they react to them in the most unexpected ways. Some offer a comforting paw, others snuggle up close, and then there are the ones who decide to turn it into a performance. One dog recently proved that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery — or mockery — in a now-viral video where she copied her owner’s fake cries, and the internet is absolutely loving it.

Viral Instagram video shows Rottweiler awoo-ing after owner pretends to cry

The video posted on the Instagram account @this_girl_emma_ captures a heartwarming and amusing moment between a four-year-old Rottweiler named Emma and her owner. In the clip, the owner sits on the couch with Emma beside her. To see how her dog would react, she lowers her head and pretends to cry.

Emma’s reaction is instant — she looks concerned and gently taps her owner’s arm twice with her paw, as if asking, “Are you okay?” But when her owner adds dramatic sobbing sounds, Emma takes things to another level. Instead of simply looking worried, the Rottie starts mimicking her, letting out long “awoo” sounds that match her owner’s cries. What’s more, every time the owner changes her pitch, Emma adjusts hers too, seemingly trying to keep up with the performance. “She was definitely mocking me,” the owner joked in the caption.

The reel has racked up over 137K views and nearly 15K likes, with users flooding the comments section to weigh in on Emma’s performance. One person wrote, “She literally said, ‘I’m crying for you!’” Another joked, “My crying is better than you, mama!!!” Others were struck by Emma’s emotional intelligence, with one comment reading, “This is so sweet; she has so much compassion.” Meanwhile, one dog owner chimed in with their own experience: “Did this once with my dog Shadow. She ignored me. I love that dog.”
