Video of Therapy Dog Overcoming a Mental Block Leaves Internet in Stitches

Even the most well-trained and capable dogs have their moments of struggle, much like humans do. Whether it’s misjudging a jump, getting confused by their own reflection, or simply overestimating their abilities, these moments of canine confusion never fail to entertain. Recently, a therapy dog named Macho has become a viral sensation after his owner shared a relatable and hilarious video of him tackling a self-imposed daily challenge.

Instagram video shows how dog finally overcomes a daily challenge

Dogs are creatures of habit, and once they latch onto an idea. Whether right or wrong, it can be tough to convince them otherwise. In a video shared on the Instagram account @macho_the_magnificent, Macho’s owner, Abby Hansen, explains the quirky predicament her dog faces in their garage. Macho — described as an otherwise intelligent and helpful therapy dog — has developed a curious mental block when it comes to his toys.

According to Hansen, there’s a narrow space in the garage between a car and a few bikes. One of Macho’s larger toys once got stuck in this gap. Ever since, he seems convinced that none of his toys — big or small — can fit through. Now, whenever Hansen asks him to bring a toy through the garage, the adorable Retriever freezes in place. He seems visibly uncertain about what to do next.

However, this time, Macho surprises Hansen with his unique solution. Instead of continuing to struggle forward with the toy, the clever dog decides to put it down, walk through the narrow space without it, and then pick it back up on the other side. His innovative approach left viewers cracking up, with one user commenting, “Sometimes you overthink things. Happens to the best of us.” Another joked, “He doesn’t want to dirty it off the wheels.” Meanwhile, one person related all too well, sharing, “This is how my dog gets sticks out of the house through her doggie door!”
