Martha Stewart’s Frenchie recovers after ‘bloody’ eye condition that needed surgery

In the Instagram post, Stewart recounted the alarming sequence of events that led to the surgery. It began when Crème Brûlée’s left eye suddenly turned cloudy and then increasingly discolored and bloody. Their vet, Dr. Jean Quaintance, swiftly directed them to the Animal Eye Clinic in Wilton, Connecticut, for urgent care. The diagnosis revealed a deep ulcerated eye infection, which necessitated the removal of the eye. Fortunately, no tumor was found.

Stewart expressed gratitude towards the veterinarians who played a crucial role in her dog’s recovery, including the successful insertion of an artificial eyeball. “Many thanks to Dr Jean and to Dr Stuhr and his staff at @animaleyeclinicwilton for doing such a great job with Creme,” the lifestyle expert wrote in her caption. After a successful surgery and stitch removal, the pup is now on the path to a smooth recovery at home.

Stewart’s Cantitoe Corners home in Katonah, New York, is a sanctuary for a diverse array of animals, from dogs and cats to horses and birds. Beyond the recent ordeal with her dog, Stewart has been candid about the ups and downs of pet ownership. She previously revealed a tragic incident where her dogs accidentally killed one of her Persian cats, Princess Peony. Despite such challenges, Stewart continues to expand her pet family, recently adopting a 4-year-old Persian cat named Magnolia.
