Drew Barrymore & Dave Bautista Team Up With ASPCA for Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

Drew Barrymore and Dave Bautista are collaborating on a heartwarming initiative. The actors, who are also dog parents, recently partnered with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to celebrate October’s Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. By raising awareness of the initiative using social media, Barrymore and Bautista hope to find families that can adopt shelter pups and bring some light into their lives.

How you can support the ASPCA and adopt a dog this October

Drew Barrymore and Dave Bautistia’s initiative with the ASPCA comes with an important task. The two actors and animal advocates, who have millions of followers online, will raise awareness and provide enough support for fostering and adoption through this process. Throughout the month, the duo will be using their social media reach to post about ASPCA’s adoptable dogs and bring the shelter pups closer to their fur-ever homes.

Moreover, Barrymore and Bautista will talk about ASPCA’s campaign, The Rescue Effect. This initiative aims to promote the effectiveness that adoption and fostering a pet can have on shelters all over the country so that they can welcome and help more struggling animals.

ASPCA CEO Matt Bershadker thanked Barrymore and Bautista for their support as they continue to be “compassionate ambassadors for dogs in shelters.” For Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, Bershadker hopes the two actors’ efforts will serve as an inspiration to people who can adopt or foster canines. He believes that doing this will make “an impact that ripples throughout shelters nationwide while creating space for more dogs in need.”

According to ASPCA, Barrymore is a pet mom to seven adopted animals. These include her rescue dog Douglas, a bearded dragon, four cats, and a snake. The organization even awarded her with a Compassion Award in 2016. Meanwhile, Bautista is a pet dad to four Pit Bulls — Ollie, Penny, Maggie, and Talulah — and works towards addressing animal protection and pet adoption.

If you wish to join the actors in this mission, you can check out the ASPCA adoptable dogs in New York, Columbus, Ohio, or the nearby local shelter. Furthermore, you can also support The Rescue Effect campaign by fostering dogs through the organization in the aforementioned cities.
