On September 1, an animal control officer rescued a dog with a bucket stuck over his head. The canine had been wandering around the Derby, Vermont, area for over a week with the plastic container. While how the pup managed to get his head stuck in a bucket is not known, the officer was able to lure him into a trap and, eventually, get the container safely removed.
Dog found with bucket on head in Vermont rescued using chicken nuggets as bait
On Sunday, a dog was finally captured after being spotted with a bucket on his head. The canine had been out and about for over a week. Fortunately, the plastic container had a hole that allowed him to eat and drink. However, the hole was small, leaving him with a limited ability to sustain himself.
A Good Samaritan reported the pup after first spotting him. Animal Control Officer Renee Falconer finally captured the dog on September 1, naming him Buckethead because of how she found him. In the Facebook post announcing his capture and rescue, she revealed that the rescue mission was very “emotional” and thanked everyone for helping save the poor pup.
Bucky’s bucket-like plastic container seems to be part of an automatic dog feeder. However, what caused the dog to get the container stuck on his head is yet to be known. Falconer had to use McDonald’s chicken nuggets to lure Bucky into the trap. With his limited ability to consume anything, the canine slowly ate the nuggets and made his way into the trap.
Fortunately, the bucket has now been removed from the dog’s head, and he is on the road to recovery. However, he was severely underweight when the animal control officer found him. So, Falconer is taking care of him until he gains weight and is healthy enough to be put up for adoption.
