This year, Tri-Pawed Picnic made history by breaking the record for the largest gathering of three-legged dogs. The California organization claims the June 23 meet-up had the most three-legged canines, being the holder of the Fun-Official Record for the same. However, Tri-Pawed Picnic doesn’t plan to stop there, as they aim to break their record in 2025.
Tri-Pawed Picnic in California breaks record for largest three-legged dog gathering
Tri-Pawed Picnic reportedly broke the world record for gathering the most three-legged pups in one place. The annual picnic takes place in San Francisco, California. This year, as many as 94 canines attended the much-anticipated event. According to the San Francisco Standard, Guinness World Records has listed 75 three-legged dogs as the largest gathering. The yearly picnic has come a long way, as it could draw in only one participant for its inaugural picnic.
Franny Corsick founded the organization after encountering a three-legged pup while walking in a park. Although she hasn’t had a three-legged canine of her own, after the meeting, she felt disabled dogs deserved celebration for their resilience. Pet parents’ enthusiasm led to the Piedmont resident continuing with the annual event, as the participants were always curious when the next one would be held.
Several people traveled across the state to attend the annual picnic. Pacifica resident Judy Richardson brought along her beloved pet, Luna Bean, who sadly lost her leg due to post-surgery complications. Richardson has had a three-legged furry companion before, so caring for Luna Bean wasn’t an issue. Moreover, she finds her tri-pawed friend a joy to have around.
The Pacifica resident has been a regular since 2017, and she has the Tri-Pawed Picnic marked on her calendar. While the annual event is fun for pet parents, what they love the most is that it is a place where they can share their three-legged dogs’ stories.
