Unique Green Golden Retriever Puppy Born in Florida

On March 3, Golden Treasures Kennel in Pensacola, Florida, was pleasantly surprised by a green-hued puppy among a litter of light-colored Golden Retrievers. The unique pup was born with a dark green tint that the owners had never seen in their 17-year-long career raising Golden Retrievers.

Golden Retriever puppy ‘Shamrock’ was born with a unique green color

Named Shamrock, the Golden Retriever puppy was born with a unique green color. However, this isn’t uncommon, as light-colored pups can sometimes get stained by a bile pigment called Biliverdin while still in the womb. The occurrence might be rare, but it isn’t unheard of.

Carole DeBruler and her husband Greg were familiar with this occurrence. However, they didn’t expect a dark green puppy with the stain not coming off. After several rounds of cleaning from her humans and her mom, Shamrock simply went from a dark green to a key lime green, per People.

Shamrock was born into a litter of eight and looked very different from her Golden Retriever siblings. She was the smallest of them all, and her coat differed strikingly from the rest. Moreover, the puppy was born two weeks before St. Patrick’s Day with her unique green hue. Accordingly, she was called “born lucky” by DeBruler on TikTok.

Carole DeBruler noted that the green tint tends to rub off after the puppy’s mom has cleaned them. However, Shamrock stayed bright green for quite some time. Her first video on the Golden Retriever pup received about 6.8 million views. She exclaimed that she was excited to share Shamrock’s uniqueness with the world.

The adorable puppy already has a forever home and was the first of her litter to get picked. Moreover, DeBruler stated that her future parents are already in love with her. She is confident the pup will be their whole world.
