Welcoming a new addition to their musical household, the Batiste family has embraced a seven-year-old Mexican hairless dog. Jon Batiste’s wife, Suleika Jaouad Batiste took to social media to share heartwarming snapshots of the rescue dog. The dog called Lentil is affectionately dubbed “The Fruit Bat.”
The Batiste family adopt rescue dog after foster trial
Jon Batiste and his wife, Suleika Jaouad Batiste, have recently expanded their household by adopting a dog, as WWL reports. Lentil is a seven-year-old Mexican hairless dog. Suleika shared Lentil’s photos on social media wearing an assortment of sweaters, captivating followers with their newest furry family member.
She wrote in the caption, “Welcome to the family, little miss @lentilbatiste. Can’t wait to dress you in ridiculous sweaters and spoil you forever.”
Moreover, one of the photos was a meme featuring her husband’s reaction to the news of her adopting another dog.
After a trial period in foster care, the couple made the heartfelt decision to officially adopt Lentil from Tobie’s Small Dog Rescue. Lentil is a Xoloitzcuintli breed who found her forever home with the Batiste family.
The couple found the dog while they were staying in Los Angeles for the Oscars. Jon was not only nominated but also performed at the ceremony. Suleika recounted how she stumbled upon Lentil’s adoption plea while scrolling through Instagram.
“I thought Jon might threaten divorce, but he didn’t … he said, ‘Go for it,’” she said. Additionally, she drove an hour to collect Lentil from the rescue rather than focusing on preparations for the big award night.
While they were fostering and still thinking about whether to adopt Lentil, Suleika shared photos of them spending time with the dog. One photo showcased Lentil enjoying pancakes with Jon. Suleika wrote in the post, “Her head is half the size of my palm, and her whole body smaller than Jon’s pancake.”
