She was accompanied by a charming four-legged companion, a Great Dane. The British actress filmed a scene in which she led the Great Dane through the bustling streets of New York City.
Adapted from Sigrid Nunez’s 2018 novel, “The Friend” explores the profound bond between a writer and an aging Great Dane. The author had to take in her friend’s large dog after the friend’s sudden death. Thus, the book offers a poignant reflection on love, loss, and human-animal relationships.
News of the book’s adaptation into film first came to light in February 2022. In addition, the lead of the movie was revealed to be Naomi Watts. Additionally, Scott McGehee and David Siegel were tapped as co-directors.
