Police identified and charged a North Carolina man who allegedly threw a puppy from an SUV window outside of an animal shelter. According to Fox News Digital, a Bryson City Police Department named the suspect as 35-year-old David Paul George Jr.

On Sept. 8, a man was caught on video opening and closing a passenger door of an SUV. He pointed at the ground. Then, he threw a puppy out the window. This all happened outside of PAWS Bryson City, an animal shelter.
“This morning even though our gate was open he chose to sling a puppy out the window,” PAWS Bryson City wrote on its Facebook page. “We wish the person that did this would have done the right thing and drove on through the gates so we could assist them rather than slinging this poor innocent dog out the window.”
The shelter asked for the public’s help in finding the man – as well as the puppy, who ran off.

Days later, someone found the puppy. He was infested with parasites and fleas. Additionally, he was malnourished. Unfortunately, he also had two small fractures and abrasions on his body.
The shelter took him in and named him Apollo.
“This little guy has no idea how much he’s worried us all. We’ve all had sleepless nights but that’s nothing compared to what he’s been through,” the shelter wrote in a subsequent Facebook post.
As news of Apollo’s plight spread, interest in adopting him skyrocketed. “Apollo might need to get an agent,” the shelter joked on Facebook.
Unfortunately for those aspirational pet parents, Apollo still needs to undergo neuter surgery. He will stay in the shelter for a few months until he is ready for the procedure.
It is unknown why David Paul George Jr. allegedly tossed the pup from the vehicle in front of the North Carolina animal shelter. What we do know is that he now faces charges of abandonment of an animal and cruelty to animals. He goes before a judge in Swain County on Sept. 26.
