Lin-Manuel Miranda’s dog Tobillo was thirteen and a half years old. The star announced the news of the demise on his Instagram on February 27, 2025, saying, “Tobillo Miranda Nadal died peacefully in her sleep.”

Tobillo was living on the beaches of the Dominican Republic when she first met Lin-Manuel Miranda and his wife Vanessa Nadal. The couple was on vacation, relaxing on the beach when “an abused, half starved four-pound puppy” jumped on the beach chair and nibbled the ankle of his wife. And they have been together since then.

In fact, as per an interview with Pet Lifestyles Magazine, Lin-Manuel Miranda was always a “dog person” while his wife was a “cat person.” But when the pup came into their lives, things changed for good.

Lin-Manuel Miranda told the outlet, “Tobillo (Spanish for ankle) came into our lives she has made a contribution that we treasure. In fact, you could say she is my closest confidante.”

As per the actor, Tobillo loved waves. He said, “Tobi’s favorite thing is chasing waves, she will spend hours doing this. She will spend hours dodging the tide and never get swept in, after all she is a beach dog. The beach is her default happy place.”
