Ree Drummond’s dog Henry is around 6-7 years old, and the family lovingly calls the pooch Uncle Festus or Schlumpers.

Henry joined the Drummond family after their beloved Basset hound, Charlie, died in January 2017. Ree Drummond introduced the pup on her Instagram on December 28, 2017, impressing her fans with the new furry friend.

Although “no one can ever replace ol’ Charlie the ranch dog,” but Ree Drummond believes the pup will surely “fill the hole Charlie left.”

And that’s true. Since the arrival, “Henry has continued to delight the Drummonds with his playful and eager personality.”

What breed is Ree Drummond’s dog Henry?

The breed of Drummond’s dog Henry is a Basset Hound. These droopy-eyed dogs are good with kids and other dogs as well. But they can get stubborn at times. However, the dogs of this breed will often melt everyone’s heart with their charm.

And don’t get fooled by their laid-back personality or small height. Although Basset Hounds stand no higher than 14-15 inches, they have the strength and stamina of big dogs. Basset Hound usually weigh 40-65 pounds and their life expectancy is 12-13 years.

Besides Henry, Ree Drummond is also a pet mom to Basset Hounds: Shelby, Rusty, and Fred; Yellow Lab: Duke, Lucy, and German shepherd: Presley. She also had another Basset hound named Walter and Charlie. But sadly they passed away in 2023 and 2017, respectively.
