The age of Neil Patrick Harris’ dog Spike is not clear. But the pup made his first appearance on NPH’s Instagram in December 2019.

Neil Patrick Harris’ adopted Spike from the North Shore Animal League and he soon became a beloved family member. Not only that, Spike is also a “puppy influencer.” Yes, the canine has an Instagram account with a decent amount of followers. 

Other than his human friends, Spike loves his sibling Gidget and follows her everywhere. In a 2020 edition of People’s Sexiest Man Alive, Neil Patrick Harris said, “Spike adores Gidget. He follows her around and chews on her and just like a little brother. If Gidget barks at something, Spike will stop whatever he’s doing and run over and see what it is. He just follows her around.”

And talking about Spike’s not-so-good habits, Neil Patrick Harris’s husband David Burtka pointed out that the pup ”can sit and poop in the house.” Even the “Uncoupled” actor agreed saying that Spike “loves to do that.”

The breed of Neil Patrick Harris’ dog Spike is a Chihuahua-French bulldog mix, also known as French Bullhuahua. They are small in size yet strong pups. They are spunky, very aware, intelligent, and loyal dogs. Their weight can range from 10 to 30 pounds and are 6 to 12 inches tall. Their life span is 10-15 years. 

Neil Patrick Harris loves having furry companions around him as he thinks “that having dogs makes you selfless enough that you just love unconditionally and it’s this great back and forth because you can’t really teach them ramifications for things the way you can with a child.”
