Super Bowl 2012 commercials: Most subtle use of a dog

“2012” (Chevrolet, 1:00, first quarter):

With Barry Manilow’s “Looks Like We Made it,” in the background, Armageddon has come and civilization is in ruins. The remaining human survivors (all owners of still-functioning Chevy pickup trucks) drive from the rubble and lament the loss of a friend Dave, who, unfortunately, perished because drove a Ford (“[He] didn’t drive the longest lasting, most dependable truck on the road”). Aside from the men, trucks, and the dog, Hostess Twinkies also survive the apocalypse. The dog is hardly the star, but its presence is an excellent touch (and it’s correctly strapped in the Silverado’s back seat).
