While it’s true you won’t be hard-pressed to find mixed breed dogs among the nation’s shelter populations, there are a surprising number of purebreds available as well. But more importantly, don’t rule out the mutts!
Plenty of mixed breed dogs retain the hypoallergenic qualities of their parent breeds. (Poodle mixes, for instance, are often excellent companions to allergy sufferers.)
