DogTime Pet Blog Finalists Announced and Voting Open

Pet lovers can vote for their favorite bloggers, videos, and animal welfare organizations in the fourth annual Petties Awards

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – (July 10, 2013) – DogTime Media, the largest vertical media community focused exclusively on pet owners, today announced that voting is open for the annual DogTime 2013 Pet Blog Awards, also known as “the Petties.”

The Petties is the largest annual pet blog awards program on the Internet, receiving over 22,000 nominations and providing $30,000 in awards. Often referred to as the “Oscars of the pet blog community,” this year’s Petties include two new categories and the first annual Petties Video Awards.

“The competition for this year’s Petties is stronger than ever,” said Simon Tonner, president & CEO of DogTime Media. “We’ve added new categories to celebrate the best mobile apps for pet owners, will be honoring some of the funniest pet videos that we all enjoy so much, and have received more than twice as many nominations as last year.”

Voting for the finalists is now open through July 31st, 2013. Winners will be announced in an online ceremony broadcast at http://petties.dogtime.comin September, with more details on the ceremony to come.Each winning blogger will be awarded a $1,000 donation to the non-profit animal shelter or rescue of their choice, a custom “Petties” award trophy, a “Petties Winner” badge for their blog site, a valuable package of editorial coverage across the DogTime Media community, and a host of social-media traffic driving opportunities.

$10,000 Petties Grant:

This year’s nominations ballot included an opportunity for the community to vote for a non-profit animal shelter to receive a $10,000 grant from DogTime Media. The wining shelter will be announced at the end of July.

Petties Video Award:

New to this year’s awards program, the Petties Video Awardswill ask pet lovers to vote for their favorite pet video from the top 10 videos received by DogTime Media. From a kitten playing with a door stopper to a dog dressed as a shark, these videos celebrate our love of animals and their unique personalities. Voting is now open through July 31st, 2013. DogTime Media Unsung Hero Award:

The Petties is now accepting nominations for the DogTime Media Unsung Hero Award. This award honors one person for their dedication to the animal community and for helping millions of homeless dogs and cats. The winner will be chosen by DogTime Media and will be announced at the Petties Award Ceremony in September. The winner receives a Petties trophy and a $10,000 donation from DogTime Media to the non-profit 501c3 rescue/shelter of their choice.
