“Britain’s Got Talent” goes to the dogs

A woman and her Border CollieBichon FriseChinese Crested mix dog won the top award on Britain’s Got Talent this past weekend.

The Britain’s Got Talent judges strike a pose with Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey.

Ashleigh Butler, 17, and her four-legged partner Pudsey, 6, defeated more than 60,000 competitors – including the first round of auditions – to win the top prize of £500,000 ($800,000). Their victorious routine featured dancing, stunts, and tricks performed to the theme from Mission Impossible (see video). Butler is from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

“I adore both of you,” judge Simon Cowell said. “You have got better and better as the competition has progressed and to do what you did in such a short time is a miracle.

“I think Pudsey is training you. [This is] one of my favorite ever acts. You know how much I love dogs – I adore both of you.”

The other 10 acts in the finals included synchronized swimmers, a teen opera duo, an 11-year-old singer, and a Welsh choir.
