First of all, rest assured that if your dog sneaks in a small bite of a baked treat that happens to contain nutmeg, they will most probably be okay. Just keep an eye out for any immediate signs of discomfort such as an upset stomach, vomiting, or disorientation.

If your dog manages to consume a larger amount of nutmeg, it’s important to consult with your veterinarian straight away. This is because eating too much nutmeg can bring on some serious symptoms.

Your vet will be able to advise you on whether your dog will need to seek out immediate medical care for eating too much nutmeg, and factors such as your dog’s size, weight, and general health will all factor into the decision.
