Frances is an adorable Dachshund girl who is well on her way to a new life in a loving forever home, but not long ago, her situation was very different. The pup was found by a Good Samaritan tied up in a trash bag, dumped and left for dead. She had suffered a spinal injury at some time in her life that left her back legs unable to move, and she wouldn’t have survived long had she not been found.
The seven-year-old long-haired Dachshund was taken to the Pennsylvania SPCA where she received medical treatment. After running some tests, veterinarians determined that her injury was old and that there wasn’t much hope for reversing the damage. But with a new wheelchair, Frances should be able to get around just fine, and since the front half of her body works perfectly and she’s not in any pain, she’ll have a good quality of life.
Frances will stay at the Pennsylvania SPCA for a time to recover and get used to her wheels before looking for a forever home. The shelter is looking for an experienced owner who can help her with her special needs. In the meantime, the investigation into who dumped Frances is ongoing. This is a horrible case of animal neglect and abandonment, and since Frances is seven years old and clearly had an owner before, the shelter and authorities would like to get to the bottom of it. If you have any information, you can call the organization’s cruelty hotline at (866) 601-7722 and leave an anonymous tip.
