Celeb Pets: Baltimore Ravens Football Player Ronnie Stanley Adopts Shelter Dog Nobody Wanted

On the field Ronnie Stanley, a rookie football player for the Baltimore Ravens, is a tough guy. But off the field he has a soft spot for animals in need. And an animal in need is exactly what he and his girlfriend were looking for when they walked into BARCS Animal Shelter in Baltimore.

Welcome to the Stanley fam Lola

Stanley specifically requested that the staff bring him a dog that was “not-so-adoptable,” a dog that had maybe been at the shelter for a while. The staff at BARCS was thrilled by the unusual request, and they knew just the pooch for the job. They brought Stanley a dog named Winter, a six-year-old pup looking for a forever home.

Winter had come to the shelter on a hot day and was found in a vacant lot, scared and dehydrated. She had a hanging belly, most likely from over breeding. But that didn’t stop Stanley from taking her home. Now she’s been renamed Lola, and she’s a part of the family. From the look on her face, she couldn’t be happier about it.

Would you adopt a dog like Lola? Are you happy to see athletes setting an example for the rest of us? Let us know in the comments below!
