Our Story:
We had recently lost our 13 year old Golden and 14 and a half year old
English Mastiff, so my husband’s office launched a campaign to find him
another dog. Knowing that we had 2 other rescue dogs and were big
supporters of rescue organizations, they pulled up several candidates
online. While reviewing them I came across Muggsy.
He had been removed from a bad home by the Humane Society. Because he
had been beaten up and bitten by other dogs in the home, he was deemed
unfit for adoption and was set to be euthanized.
A local rescue organization took him and fostered him until he healed
from the bites and from being neutered. He was calm but wary of dogs he
didn’t know. We saw him on the website and fell in love immediately.
Luckily, we were the first to call.
His first look at our Rottie sent him yelping and hiding between my
ankles. But, we are happy to report that they now live happily
together. Our elderly Westie with failing eyesight is learning to
follow him outside. Muggsy’s biggest lesson now is learning that it’s
OK to play tug-of-war with the Golden next door, but Rotties don’t play
that game. At 5 months, he still has time to learn to trust other dogs,
and his natural sweetness and cuddliness will prevail. He’s a keeper!
