Our Story:
I had been looking for a dog for 2 years. Our local MSPCA had to close due to funding cuts. A new organization (Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society) had taken the space over. They were open for 2 weeks. I have been looking at all types of dogs. I was on their website on a Friday night. I was looking at their dogs and Skye’s picture popped up. I fell in love right away. I had had a Dachshund when I was a little girl and always wanted another. I was looking for a lap dog and one that would sleep with me.

The next day I was at Dakin at 11:30 and they didn’t even open until 12:00. As soon as they opened I asked to see her. When they took her out, it was like falling in love for the both of us. I brought her outside and we bonded right away. I played with her and walked her and knew that she was mine and I had finally found what I was looking for. I went inside and adopted her right away. I was very upset because they needed to spay her on Monday, so I couldn’t pick her up until Tuesday. When I put her back into her cage I picked her up for a snuggle. She snuggled up to my neck and it was like she was saying, please don’t leave me here. I went back and picked her up.

She has turned out to be exactly what I wanted. She either sits in my lap, or right next to me, laying along my leg. She sleeps with me and I have to wake her up in the morning. She follows me around the house. It is a love match for the both of us.
