10 News from Roanoke, Virginia reports about a truck almost driving through a car wash with a dog tethered in the back.
A Careless Mistake
The news outlet gathered surveillance footage showing the truck entering the Lightning McClean Car Wash on Saturday. As the vehicle pulled ahead, employees noticed the dog tethered in the back and alerted the driver. Then, a man wearing a Bedford Fire Department shirt exited the passenger side and untethered the dog.
A car wash manager claimed that the man seemed “agitated” and allegedly said, “he wanted to get his dog washed, too.”
The Bedford fire chief identified the man as a “junior member” of the volunteer department. According to him, authorities ordered an investigation after learning about the incident. They examined the dog and found no signs of abuse.

Is It Safe to Have My Dog in the Back of My Truck?
We know how much dogs love to feel the breeze of the open road. However, experts agree that having your dog ride in an open truck bed is a bad idea.
A 2007 survey from the American Veterinary Medical Association found that a group of vets in Massachusetts had treated almost 600 injuries from dogs falling out of truck beds. Furthermore, the American Humane Society estimates that 100,000 dogs die each year from such accidents, and even more are injured.
As a result, many states are enforcing laws that restrict having dogs in truck beds. Aside from that, doing so is dangerous and puts your pet in harm’s way.
