Weirdness Rating: 5/10

Type of dog: Pit Bull mix

Special talent: Playing dead really, really well.

Top comment: “He’s got a pillow with his picture on it.”

Possible explanation for behavior: Pablo is most likely method acting to prepare for his role in an all-dog adaptation of Stephen King’s “Doctor Sleep.” He hasn’t read the book.

Probable explanation for behavior: Based on his body language, Pablo is very comfortable. He’s laid out on his side, able to completely relax as he’s protected by his doggy dad. The way a dog sleeps tells us a lot about how much they trust their surroundings. For example, a dog who holds their paws close to their chest may feel as though they need to protect themselves. On the other hand, a dog who sleeps on their back may feel completely safe.

Moreover, dogs can enter and exit a deep sleep, or REM cycle, in just 20 minutes. Because man’s best friend sleeps much more frequently than humans, they do so in short bursts. Our nap is very different than a dog nap, which is often marked by deep sleep.
