Unless you live under a rock, you’re aware that there’s a new Netflix docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. What you might not realize is that in addition to featuring the royal celebs and their two adorable children, the doc also showcases the trio of Harry of Meghan’s dogs – and dare we say they come close to stealing the spotlight.

Meet Harry and Meghan’s Dogs

Harry and Meghan count a black Labrador named Pula as well as two rescue Beagles named Guy and Mia among the four-legged members of the family. Each has a unique backstory about how they became the couple’s “emotional support” animals.

Guy was Meghan’s pup from before her relationship with Harry – but the Beagle played a critical role in the couple’s engagement. The documentary reveals that at one point in the relationship, Meghan moved Guy to the UK, an indication in Harry’s eyes that the former actress was committed to a future together. The pooch’s presence reassured Harry that Meghan would be receptive to his marriage proposal at Kensington Palace in 2017.

“It wasn’t that I knew she was going to say yes, but she’d already moved Guy over, so I had Guy as a hostage,” Harry says.

In a photo from the proposal, Harry is seen petting Guy while down on one knee. Another pic of the couple from that same night features the couple grinning alongside the Beagle.

A Growing Brood

After the couple married in a 2018 royal ceremony seen ‘round the world, Harry and Meghan adopted Pula. The pup’s name, which means “rain” in Setswana, is a nod to Botswana, a memorable location in the couple’s dating timeline. In the first two episodes of the doc, Pula is captured frolicking along with the couple’s kids.

Momma Mia was adopted in August of this year. The 7-year-old Beagle was among 4,000 dogs recused from a Virginia breeding facility.

Given the rate at which Harry and Meghan’s stars have risen, we don’t expect that these pups’ celebrity status will lag far behind.
