Pacing back and forth behind a wire fence is no way for a 14-month-old pup to spend his life. Louie was stuck in a Kansas facility for most of his 14 months after being found in a park. Maria from @fortheforgottendogs watched him decline every single day. In the video, we learn that he was a shelter dog that everyone seemed to overlook.
People adopted him twice but brought him back soon. They said he was just too fearful. This video shows the heartbreaking reality of him cowering in a corner. It is hard to watch. But things were finally about to change.
Shelter dog finds forever home after being returned by his previous owners
The footage starts with him pacing nonstop. He looks so stressed. And when the human who is filming tries to leash him, he just cowers. He has that Labrador desire to please, but his anxiety is just way too high. He looks shifty and terrified. “I was losing hope just like he was,” Maria said in the TikTok’s caption.
In a Newsweek interview, Maria revealed that a foster stay even fell through at the last second. Mercifully, a family nine hours away in Colorado saw his story, and they didn’t care about the distance. They just got in the car and drove to adopt him. That’s how Louie finally got the chance he actually deserved.
The video then cuts to happier scenes. Louie is at field, wearing a blue jacket. He looks so much more relaxed. He is actually discovering the world for the first time. There is a photo of him in the snow looking totally content. He is even prancing on a patio with a red toy.
It is a huge shift from that stressed shelter dog pacing in a kennel in the first shot of the video. “He Absolutely SHINES and radiates Happiness,” one person commented on the video. We also see him digging in the yard and sitting by Christmas trees now.
The in-video text tells us that he is finally having his “firsts” in a real home. He went from a rural kennel to a life of love in Colorado. His new family understood that he just needed time. “Thank you to his amazing family for seeing what so many overlooked,” Maria wrote. It is just the most wholesome outcome.
