You’d think decorating a home in the Pacific Northwest would involve cozy rugs and local art. But for Murphy, a new floor mirror becomes a full-blown obsession. His owners bought it to brighten the room, but before they could even grab a hammer, the dog decided it was a portal to his new best friend. The account @murphisamess posted a video of him absolutely mesmerized by his own reflection. It looks like that mirror isn’t getting mounted on a wall anytime soon. Murphy is convinced he finally found someone as handsome as he is, which makes sense given that Red Fox Labrador confidence.
Dog becomes ‘best friends’ with mirror in video
The footage captures Murphy over several different days, and his fascination only seems to grow with time. At first, he’s just hanging out with a Santa-themed toy, quietly watching the “other dog” in the glass. But then things get even funnier. He starts bringing over a blue plushie and biting into it while staring at himself, almost like a guy at the gym checking his form in the mirror between sets.
His owners admitted they “thought we bought décor… turns out we bought Murph a new best friend.” It isn’t just a quick glance on his way to the kitchen, either. Murphy has started bringing his favorite blankie over for long sessions of self-admiration.
In one part of the video, he gets so close his nose is almost touching the glass, trying to figure out how his twin managed to get so near. Even when his humans try to shift the mirror around, Murphy just follows the reflection. The clip ends with him letting out a massive yawn right in front of his new buddy, looking totally satisfied with the view.
With over 2,300 likes, the internet is pretty much in agreement that the mirror belongs to Murphy now. One person commented that if they were that cute, they’d have mirrors in every room of the house, too. Another fan pointed out that he’s found a “handsome mate” who is always down to hang out. Murphy seems perfectly happy with the arrangement, and as long as that other pup keeps showing up, he isn’t going anywhere.
