There are lots of famous dog lovers out there, and some have more dogs than others. Yup, while many are content with just one or two, it can seem as if some celebrities have whole armies of pets.
Katherine Heigl has plenty – and has even launched her own dog food brand – while the late Queen Elizabeth II was known for her many Corgis, and Paris Hilton has been a dog mom to many canines over the years.
We can add Robert De Niro to the ranks of famous dog parents too. The 79-year-old actor has said that he has so many dogs he doesn’t actually know the names of them all, reports The Independent.
More Dogs Than He Can Remember
The iconic actor appeared on singer Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast on Oct. 26, along with chef Nobu Matsuhisa and producer Meir Teper. Ware asked De Niro for his favorite item on the menu at restaurant Nobu, founded by the three men.
However, De Niro was unable to remember its name. He told Ware and her mother Lennie that “there’s so many things that come up that I don’t know the names”.
He went on to say, “I have a bunch of little dogs, I don’t even know all their names. They’re all there, I love them, but I just don’t know”.
When asked by Ware how many dogs he has altogether, he said that he has “a few” – over ten.
Robert De Niro Fools Fallon
While he’s clearly a dog person – and a devoted dog dad to boot – De Niro once fooled Jimmy Fallon into thinking that he’d never encountered a dog before. Indeed, while he was on the Tonight Show in 2018, De Niro pretended to be bewildered by a puppy.
“I think it’s a Labradoodle,” Fallon explained, but De Niro continued to feign ignorance. “Well, usually rabbits aren’t so big,” he said. Meanwhile, Fallon tried to work out how he could seemingly be unaware of dogs. And, whether or not he was being serious.
