Rescue Dog Finds Himself Sharing Dad’s Lap With an Unexpected Guest, but Doesn’t Seem To Mind It

Cactus loves being in dad’s lap. The moment dad settles down on a chair, Cactus is ready to be picked up and held like a baby. Cowboy, the foster puppy, has been watching this daily cuddle session from the floor, and he finally decides it’s his turn now. In the video shared by @cactustherescue, the rescue dog is already tucked in dad’s lap when the little puppy starts barking for an invitation. Dad lifts him, makes room for both boys, and somehow turns one lap into a two-dog cuddle spot. Cactus actually seems perfectly happy to share his spot.

Michael starts the video by lifting Cactus onto his lap. He tells the viewers, “He likes to be held like a baby,” and Cactus settles right in. Cowboy is sitting nearby, watching the whole thing. And then he starts barking. Michael asks Cactus if Cowboy can come up too. Cactus does not seem bothered, while Cowboy moves closer and looks up at them again.

When Michael asks Cactus, “Can the puppy come up?” Cowboy stretches onto his hind legs against the chair. The answer is apparently a yes. Michael lifts him, and suddenly two dogs are sharing one lap. Cactus stays put, getting even more comfortable against dad while Cowboy happily licks Michael’s face. Dad calls them “two good boys” and kisses Cactus on the head.

Michael says in the caption that Cactus has loved sitting on his lap like a baby ever since he came home. He reportedly asks for lap time every day, and Cowboy had been watching the routine before deciding he wanted a turn too.

The video has picked up more than 44.6k likes in less than 10 hours, and commenters can’t get enough of the cuddle arrangement. One foster parent said the whole point of fostering is treating every dog like family before helping them find their forever home. Someone else had the most practical suggestion: “Gonna need a bigger chair.”
