Human Visits Shelter Dog Whining in a Kennel, Unaware They’d Keep Coming Back Until This Happens

Falafel was sitting in his kennel when a human stopped to meet him, thinking she was simply taking a shelter dog out for the day. But that day changed things pretty fast. In the video from @thehotrescue, the shelter dog rides in the back seat, rests a paw in her hands, and settles in for chest rubs. He also gets plenty of playtime. By the time the outing was over, Falafel had clearly made an impression. Soon, the visits became regular. She kept coming back, then started introducing Falafel to more people who might be able to help.

The first time she saw Falafel, he was sitting in his kennel. He was looking toward the camera, and that made the volunteer decide to take him out for a daycation. In the car, we see him reach over and place a paw into her hands. Later, he plays with a toy in her lap and settles in for chest rubs. That outing was enough to make her want to come back.

After Falafel went back to the shelter, she kept coming back to see him. She pet him through the kennel bars, took him outside for belly rubs, and started introducing him to more people. The goal was simple: let others meet the sweet, goofy dog she already knows.

One outing shows Falafel racing through a park with a toy in his mouth, looking much more like a dog enjoying his day than one waiting in a kennel. A previous post says Falafel is 3 years old and weighs 55 pounds. He is also described as great with kids and good with other dogs.

Then the happy update arrives in the video. “Falafel is HOME.” The post credits everyone who shared his name, talked about him, and helped get his story in front of lots of people. It is this attention that eventually helped this shelter dog reach humans ready to give him a real shot at adoption. In the last shot, Falafel is home, sitting beside a bowl with a big smile on his face.
