Sandy, a 2-year-old mother dog at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta, Georgia, is still waiting for a forever home after arriving as a stray on June 8 with her eight puppies. An Instagram reel shared by @sharing.lov shows the American Pit Bull-type dog waiting at the shelter alone after all of her puppies were adopted.
According to the post, Sandy has now spent 73 days waiting for a family and has been placed on the shelter’s urgent list. After caring for her puppies and watching each of them find a home, Sandy is now left hoping that someone will finally choose her.
Mama shelter dog, all alone and overlooked after her babies leave, just wants to be held
Sandy arrived at the shelter with her eight puppies, and according to the post, the family stayed together until the pups were old enough to be adopted. One by one, each puppy found a home, but Sandy was left behind. She is listed as “Sandy 19735” and is currently available for adoption in Marietta.
After spending weeks watching her puppies leave, she is still waiting for someone to choose her. “That makes every walk feel heavier,” the post said. The video opens with Sandy inside her kennel, pressing her face between the bars as she looks out.
Text on the screen reads, “Please don’t let Sandy’s story end here.” Another shot shows her walking through the shelter as the reel adds, “Please don’t let this be her last walk.” Once outside, Sandy sits beside a volunteer and appears more interested in being close than playing with toys.
According to the post, Sandy is quiet while inside her kennel but becomes affectionate once she gets outside. She is described as gentle, good on a leash and excited to meet other dogs. The reel says she “just sat on my lap and wanted to be held.” Another caption adds, “And for the rest of our walk nothing changed.”
The emotional video prompted viewers to rally behind Sandy and hope that her story would have a happier ending. One person wrote, “Sandy, you are precious ??” Another added, “I know I say this about every dog, but I can’t wait for Sandy’s freedom ride ❤️.”
Others shared, “Such a good girl the way she came out of the kennel and sat right in front of you so calmly what an angel? So deserving of a loving home,” “Aww, such a sweet doggy ❤️ I pray someone gives her a happy home?” and “How are these dogs overlooked?? They’re so damn cute! ?”
