Tripod Shelter Dog Doesn’t Let Her ‘Little Defect’ & Uncertain Future Bring Her Spirit Down

Chickie’s afternoon nap was unexpectedly interrupted by a cheerful voice outside her kennel. “What a pretty girl,” Jade says in the video, and within seconds, the sleepy shelter dog was wide awake, wagging her tail for a visitor she hadn’t met before. In the post shared by @humanebroward, we meet the young pup who doesn’t seem bothered by having three legs nearly as much as people seem bothered by walking past her. Even after going viral, Chickie is still waiting for her forever family.

The clip opens with Chickie curled up on her bed inside her kennel when Jade Alexander walks over, greeting her warmly. At first, the tripod dog simply blinks back, looking a little puzzled after being woken from her nap. Then it clicks that someone is there just for her, and her tail immediately starts wagging. As Jade keeps chatting, she compliments Chickie’s beautiful brindle coat before sitting down on a mat beside her kennel.

While the sweet pup happily noses around a toy, Jade gently points out the heartbreaking part of her story. “Your video went viral, and yet here we are two months later… and nobody’s come for you yet.” For a moment, a sound behind Jade catches Chickie’s attention. Curious, she lifts her head to investigate. Jade laughs, calling her “very nosy,” and it’s hard not to smile watching Chickie’s personality come through. Soon, the cuddles begin.

Chickie leans in for kisses, stretches out comfortably beside Jade, happily accepts treats, and even enjoys a gentle nose boop. Then she wanders off for a break beneath a bench in the room. Throughout it all, she moves confidently on three legs, never acting as though she is any different.

According to the shelter, Chickie arrived with an amputated leg. She can be shy when meeting new people because shelter life has been overwhelming. Once she feels safe, though, she is affectionate, walks wonderfully on a leash, is potty trained, and simply enjoys being close to people. Thanks to Dolly’s Dream, her adoption fee has even been sponsored. The shelter dog’s video has already picked up more than 3,700 likes, with viewers cheering Chickie on and hoping she finds her humans soon.
